Addiction treatment provider sold to Texas chain

SpecialCare Hospital Management, a St. Charles-based provider of inpatient stabilization and withdrawal management services for those with drug or alcohol addiction and related health issues, has been acquired by BayMark Health Services.

The terms of the deal, announced Friday, weren’t disclosed.

SpecialCare currently provides the inpatient service for 46 acute care hospitals in 13 states, officials said. Following the acquisition, SpecialCare will retain its name and much of its staff.

BayMark, based in Lewisville, Texas, provides medication-assisted treatment to over 45,000 patients in recovery from opioid use disorder. BayMark’s services include opioid treatment programs using methadone or buprenorphine and office-based buprenorphine programs, both of which incorporate counseling in an individualized treatment plan, officials said. Outpatient withdrawal management services with naltrexone therapy and residential treatment are offered in certain locations.
