The L. Ruby Horwood Center, located at 711 Lawn Ave., opened last month to offer outpatient counseling and intensive outpatient services for individuals abusing or addicted to alcohol. It can serve up to 300 people in the region.
People seeking treatment for alcohol addiction and those seeking help for opioid addiction have very different needs in treatment and recovery, according to local treatment advocates. But until recently, both populations went through the same program at Penn Foundation.
Now, that’s changed. Penn Foundation has opened a new outpatient alcohol-specific treatment facility on its campus in West Rockhill that can serve up to 300 people, according to its communications director Jen Smith.
